The program spans several weeks because essay writing is a sustained process, particularly when it comes to personal statements. Students should be unafraid to change their minds and their essay topics. The ultimate goal is for students to walk away with an essay that they are proud of and that they feel authentically represents them. Overview: The first meeting will be focused on getting to know the student and learning what their university goals are. We will also talk about the purpose of the personal statement in the college admissions process and how students should be thinking about presenting themselves in their essays. Students are encouraged to bring a few preliminary essay topic ideas to the first meeting. Meetings will be conducted virtually through Zoom. Microsoft Word is preferred for drafts and edits, but GoogleDocs is also accepted. The package includes up to 8 hours of meetings and up to 8 hours of edits outside of meeting times.
